Donna Hawkes is an amateur watercolourist who started painting in her retirement. She wanted to learn something new, and she loved the look of the watercolour medium. After many years of needing to be in control of courses, classrooms, and schools, she was looking for something to do that would “let go” of control. Painting with water was a good place to begin, as she needed to allow the water to do its magic and make beautiful pictures. Trusting the water was the secret, and it became a passion. After taking many watercolour classes with a variety of instructors, Donna eventually took up the challenge of leading watercolour classes at her resort art studio in Sarasota, Florida. She is experimenting with different techniques and her aim is to make her painting looser and more impressionistic. She loves to do florals because they are so therapeutic. With continued effort, her work will become even more creative and artistic.
Donna is a member of the Richmond Village Art Club (RVAC)
